Kateel Shree Durgaparameshwari Temple, Mangalore

About Kateel Shree Durgaparameshwari Temple

Located on the banks of River Nandini, this is one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Goddess Durgaparameshwari (also called as Bhraamare or Bhramarambha). It is believed that Goddess Durga reincarnated as Durgaparameshwari, daughter of River Nandini to save people from Arunasura, a demon. On an annual festival in April and on Laksha Deepotsava, the day of Kartika Bahula Panchami, this mythological tale is enacted through a local folk dance Yakshagana along with many miracles of Goddess Durga.
