About Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple

During the rule of Tippu Sultan, this site was used to graze horses and hence it got its name ‘Kudre-valli’.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is built in 1912 by Sri Narayana Guru for the Billava community. It is the only temple built in the Tamil Nadu style of architecture in Karnataka. There are also small shrines of Navagraha, Annapoorneswari, Mahaganapathi, Subramanya, Shaneeshwara and Anandabhairava surrounding the main temple. The walls of the temple are decorated with many murals depicting scenes from mythologies. The festival of Dasara and Shivaratri are celebrated in a grand scale.
