About Kadri Manjunatha Temple
Built in the 11th century, this temple of Lord Shiva has an idol of Lord Manjunathaswamy (Lord Shiva) that is regarded as the oldest idol in South India. The myth is that answering to the prayers of Parashurama, Lord Shiva appeared in the form of Manjunatha along with his wife Goddess Parvathi and stayed at Kadri. There are a number of water ponds in the temple premises.
Other notable structures include Goddess Durga temple towards the west, Lord Ganesha temple in the northern side and idols of Machendranath, Gorakanath, Shringinath, Lokeshwara, Manjushri and Buddha.
