About Elliot's Beach

Located adjacent to Marina beach, this beach is popularly known as ‘Bessei’ among the locals and named after the then Governor of Madras Edward Elliot (1803-1820). It is one of the cleanest beaches in South India and is popular hangout place among the college students. The beach is also very soothing.

A temple of Ashtalakshmi is very famous here. There is also a church called as Velankanni church (widely known as ‘Lady of Health’ and ‘Madonna of Velankanni’).
