Chitradurga is situated in the Northwest of Bangalore. The city is considered as a land of valour and chivalry. Chitradurga got its name from Chitrakaladurga. One interesting fact about this place found by the archaeologists is the granite hills that are fetched below the ground which is said to be traced from the 3rd millennium B.C. To your surprise they have found the evidence of Emperor Ashoka located near Bharmanagari which clearly proves that Chitragurga was a part of the Mauryan Empire.There are lots of historic temples such as Goplakrishna Temple, Hidimbehswara Temple and Sampige Siddeshwara Temple that one may wish to visit in Chitradurga.
